Vintage Holland Mold Beer Stein + Lid (1971)

History:
* Holland Mold was founded in 1946 by Frank Hollendonner Sr, he was an Austrian immigrant who learned mold making at a tile company in his homeland. Having settled in Trenton, New Jersey, the home to numerous potteries, his experience easily got him a job making molds for a tile manufacturer. The likeable Hollendonner made friends throughout the local ceramics industry, and soon got requests to create molds for a variety of items.
* In 2011 Frank Hollendonner Sr passed away at the age of 87. In 2014 John Hollendonner passed away at the age of 89. John was the co-owner of Holland Mold until he retired.
* Based off the info on the bottle, this was designed by D.H in 1971. This was more than likely hand crafted by Dorthy (Dottie) Hollendonner, which is John Hollendonner's wife.
* Not only does Holland Mold have rich American history behind it, but each piece is rare and unique. Production slowed down in the 1980's and that caused the family to liquidate Holland Mold assets in 1997. Design & Lettering:
* The design depicts German text wrapping around the stein.
* Es lebe was auf Erden stolziert in grüner pracht (German).
* Long live on earth strutting in green splendor (English). I'm not 100% certain of that translation but I put a lot of effort into figuring it out. Google and other software translations didn't quite help.
Condition
:
* The beer stein has no cracks. The lettering and design is in very good condition and readable. The inside has some marks but it's in very good condition. It does have some green marks and some paint missing on the outside. My guess is it's part of the aging process and from being used. Overall, the stein is in
VERY GOOD
condition for how old it is.
