Small/ Min 2 chamber Bat House ( 25” x 11.5” x 4.5" bat capacity 50 plus) handcrafted in Bristol New Hampshire and Built to Bat Conservation International standards. Made from 1” rough cut pine boards with ½” rough cut pine baffle allowing for 1 1/8” wide chambers and a plywood landing. The large 5.5" x 3/4" plywood landing is less app to break off or warp along with the BCI approved attached plastic netting that allows easy landings and take offs for bats while eliminating injury to the bat. Assembled with 2” deck screws and caulking adhesive for water tightness and a shingled roof to insure the inside stays dry. You can purchase your bat house in one of four colors. Each color represents each bat zone 1 to 4 as set by BCI standards (see zone map) or can order unfinished. The color of your bat house will help in attracting bats to your bat house in your location. In cooler environments, a darker color is suggested. This will help attract heat to your bat house and help retain heat during cool nights. For hotter environments, lighter colors are suggested as this will help keep the bat house cooler and from getting too hot. Bats play an important part in the Eco system and they are a major consumer of nighttime insects. A single bat can consume 600 to 1000 insects per hour each night and this includes the mosquito. Mosquitoes are known carriers of the West Nile, Triple E, and Zika virus. Each bat house comes with mounting screws and mounting instructions.
