ORIGINAL 1903 VICTOR PHONOGRAPH CHROMOLITHOGRAPH ADVERTISING HIS MASTERS VOICE

Fantastic and quite rare, ca1903 Victor Phonograph Chromolithograph Advertising Print / Oversize Trade Card featuring Nipper and titled “His Master’s Voice”.
This original piece of advertising measures approx. 9 3/4” by 6 1/2”. It is printed on a lightweight card stock and is nearly identical (although a bit larger and with different text on the reverse) to an insert that was issued in the November 1903 issue of Cosmopolitan Magazine (similar to the chromolithograph Coca-Cola cards issued around the same period). The Print Advertising Card offered here, however, was separately issued.
The chromolithography is simply fantastic, deep and rich and the image is the Victor Talking Machine advertisement that has become an American Classic. Text on the back of the card lists 41 phonograph retailers around the country that sold Victor Talking Machines at the time. Advertising text on the back of the Print reads in part “Victor Talking Machines / The talking machine that plays loud enough for dancing – look for the dog” and “Not a Victor without the Dog”.
This rare and early Victor Phonograph Advertising Print displays nicely and is in good to very good condition. The colors are bright and vibrant – rich and warm and there is no large areas of soiling or staining. There is no edge chipping however there is a horizontal crease at the bottom of the sheet below the dog and a short edge tear at the center of the right hand edge. There is light edge wear and small creases at the corners as well as two tiny light surface stains in the background in the upper left hand quadrant. With a quality matting and framing this beautiful chromolithograph will display beautifully.
