Description
My English father-in-law was a passionate antique dealer. Many strange & interesting things have passed through his hands, & he has created a fascinating legacy for our family. From his estate.....This item is a partial set, 8 of 25 cigarette cards from a set titled ''British Regalia'' that were issued by John Player & Sons in 1937. The cards depict 8 sets of Royal Regalia from
Kings & Queens through the centuries. The regalia shown are mostly Royal Crowns, Royal Orbs & Scepters. The globe-like
Orb, as this part of the regalia is officially named, is a symbol of Godly power. A cross above a Orb represents ''Christ’s dominion over the world'', as the Monarch is God’s representative on Earth
.
The Scepter is an elaborately decorated royal staff or wand. These cards are very colorful, bright & cheery &
are large size, 31/8'' x 21/2'', about twice the normal card size. They are in excellent condition, nice clean backs & front, nice corners. No creases, tears, or stains. They would look excellent in a frame.
Please use the photo zoom to inspect the cards condition.
